Project Goal: Create a bright, functional, gourmet kitchen. |
Project Challenge: As with many old homes in Massachusetts' Merrimack Valley, this one was framed using post and beam construction. In order to add larger windows for more light, major reconstruction of the outside wall was required in order to secure the weight load for the second floor. The design included large windows, recessed lighting and glass doors. Cabinet storage space was doubled and new food preparation areas have been added. The use of durable surfaces and easy clean appliances minimize clean up. Result: This dramatic kitchen make over has met all of the homeowner's goals. The reconstruction of the outside wall has resulted in a more level and stronger structure overall. According to the homeowners: I am thrilled with my new kitchen! It is much brighter than I ever imagined and the overall design makes food preparation a real pleasure. My family now gets gourmet meals and I have a "star' kitchen to show off to my friends and family. |
